When was it that we came to expect that everything lines up the way we want it to? Yes, yes, I am a firm believer in casting intentions to co-create and manifest into being our wildest dreams, and yet…the best laid plans…what?
Today I had a webinar scheduled, it was to be an introductory webinar for a group coaching course that officially rolls out next week, December 7th. Just as my intro video finished playing and I was to “Go Live” to deliver my Webinar, my computer screen went to black…and never came back. Houston, we have a problem. I was somewhere out in space.
That’s right, I couldn’t visualize anything at the outset of my Webinar, including my slides. I wasn’t even sure I was live or that the video was working, but I moved onward “as if” just in case. I jumped off the abyss, a bit off-balance, feeling caught off-guard and unsteady without my “plan” in front of me on-screen.
The feeling was a bit like walking down a street I know well, but for the first time, with a blindfold on. It felt awkward, bumpy and slow even though I know my content, because I was unsure with a blank, black, screen in front of me. I didn’t have any positive reinforcement that anyone was really there. I’m far more of a people person. I love engagement and doing things together as a community. I thought perhaps it was actually just me talking to myself, my dog and my two cats, and I somehow was cut off and disconnected from actual people on the Webinar. (Do you like the chat feature on a Webinar? It’s fun to see who’s there and interact! It just feels more real with people!)
Another wild thing happened today… my entire website was changed over. I mean, completely migrated to a new platform! The good news is my website is brand spanking new. Only too bad for me that DNS servers take up to 48 hours to propagate my new location.
Translation: Some people were unable to access a good and working link to my site, a.k.a. Webinar sign-up page. Who migrates their entire website onto a new platform 24 hours before a launch? Me, of course. That’s how I roll. #BadIdea take it from me.
Second Translation: Holy Mother of Horrors, I sponsored a Facebook Ad with a bum link! Super pro, right?! Is Mercury in retrograde? If only I could blame a planet, but alas, nope. It’s all on me, the moving of my website to a new platform and DNS servers playing catch-up. When I change my phone number it’s immediate, when I change my web platform, it’s 48 hours. #NoteToSelf
Big Takeaway: I should have done this a couple of days ago but I was very busy carving turkey, baking pies, and entertaining family…and wanting to squeeze it all in. You know, carpe diem, bone marrow sucking and all.
In reflection on this crazy holiday week, and today’s events, I think every day is a bit like taking a walk along a well known path and donning a blindfold. (Who cooked a turkey for Thanksgiving? That’s like wearing a blindfold! How relieved were you when the turkey didn’t come out dry, you could be proud of that juicy bird, happy it was unfrozen in the middle and completely thrilled nobody ended up with a trip to the ER for food poisoning!) Miracles. Miracles every day. Blessings abound my friends.
Monday night, November 30th I’m doing a “Do-Over” on my Webinar… I’m going to do it again only this time with a back-up screen, and a renewed sense of gratitude, respect and awe for all things hi-tech. I think it’s funny that my topic for my new webinar series is moving through challenges, getting unstuck, and being fully self-expressed while actualizing in 2016 what we all want most to come to fruition. No, it’s actually not funny at all. It’s freaking perfect.
Let’s hope your DNS server points you to my new location… otherwise, email me. I’m always happy to hear from a real person instead of a black screen!
